LT1 Error codes- Deleting?

OK I have an LT 1 from a 92 vette in my 87. I used the complete corvette harness and computer. I used the original wire for the " service engine soon light" - i hooked it to a small yellow LED on the dash so i can read codes. Now i changed the opti spark and i want to DELETE the codes...all the videos i've seen on the topic have to do with vettes and pushing buttons...well i don't have any of those buttons on my car...is there another way to empty these codes? I'd really like to know if the car is happy with the new opti.

Re: LT1 Error codes- Deleting?

For a pre-ODBII system I use the old MF-2500 scanner to read data and clear codes. I'm not sure that pulling battery power for a brief period will do that on that ECM/PCM.

OK so my scanner does go back that far...but it's asking me for the 8th letter of the VIN.....this engine came from a wrecked corvette a long time ago.....any good guesses on what i should call it?

Try identifying it as a "P" engine.

Re: LT1 Error codes- Deleting?

ok i used the P and it said it had "no communication"....so it maybe how my PROM was redone years ago when the engine was swapped in...my service engine soon light still flashes me the codes.....I just have to find another way to delete them....I think they automatically go away after a certain number of starts, but i might be wrong...
