350 Build
Hi guys. Car is a 1988 Formula 350 that had a 770-R4 in it. Working on a restoration and am getting ready to start building the engine. 350 bored .030 over, forged crank, Scat forged rods, Wiseco pistons, and Howard cam. ( pic of card below). 1.5 roller rockers. Also planning on putting the FiTech system on it. 083 heads that are stock but gone through at the machine shop. Im putting a T5 behind it until it grenades then a TKX. Ive built engines, but strictly back to stock so looking for a little advice on this.
1. Can you guys recommend injectors? I will purchase from Southbay, just want to make sure I get the right #/hr
2. Can you tell me how this cam looks with the rest of what I have going on.
3. This will have NO2 on it, so anything I need to prep for there?
4. Should I get new pushrods, or assuming they are straight, will the originals be ok.
5. Should I consider a different intake from stock?
Thanks for any advice you have!

2. The stock heads are corks, and will not perform well with that cam. It won’t breathe with those heads and all it will ever be, if you can get it to idle, is sound.
3. Again, learn to tune and don’t let it go lean.
4. Stock pushrods are fine depending on your seat/open pressure. But as cheap as SBC parts are, it’s worth it to pick up some cheap aftermarket rods.
5. The stock L98 manifold is even more of a restriction than the 083s are. They lay down under 5k with the stock broomstick cam.
Your attempted combo is very mismatched and it will more than likely run like a pig. Also, don’t underestimate a WC T5. I ran 12.0s for 3 years with a WC T5 on DRs. 3500 WOT launch and 5800rpm powershifts every pass. All in a 3600lb street car. Ran a Centerforce DF and a Pro 5.0

Re: 350 Build
Thanks Nova,
This is exactly why I am here. For the wealth of knowledge you guys have. I am not at all opposed to new heads and intake, I just don't know what I need. I have been reading up on tuning and datalogging and plan to learn and do it. I doubt it will ever see the track, but I wont rule it out. More of a street car that has the potential for a little more if I want. New pushrods for sure. And thanks for the info on the T5, although the one I have is not WC. I will happily run it and if it holds up, even better. Just reading through the plethora of info here about its chances behind a 350, I wasnt holding my breath. Any hints for heads and an intake ? Again, thanks for the help and info!
