OTC 2000 scanner troubleshooting

OTC 2000 scanner troubleshooting

I’m trying to dial in my e4me carb and I decided to purchase an otc scanner from eBay. It came with a storage case, manuals, cartridges and the seller stated it was tested.

That being said, I’m having trouble getting this thing to work and I don’t know if it’s user error or something wrong with the scanner.

I can select my vehicle year, but after I select the vehicle engine vin I get a “FULL” message on the scanner. If I press any other buttons it just cuts off. Does anyone have experience with these scanners? I don’t want to purchase another if it’s something I’m doing wrong…

Weird. I have one of these and I’ve never seen that. It’s not even in the manual anywhere.

I have an OTC 2000 I bought new many moons ago never had this issue , make sure you have correct cartridge's installed (ie Asian cars ) I have done that

google you issue bet you will find something

It’s functioning intermittently now but I can’t figure out if it’s a voltage issue or if the data link isn’t stable. Im wondering if it’s a connection issue at the ALDL. I’m supposed to be able to read the codes with the key on engine off, right?

Do you have, or know someone else with an OBD 1 car that you can try the tool on? At least then you'd know if it's a problem with the vehicle or the OTC unit.

Wow! I have an old OTC2000, I bought from a mechanic I supervised, when I was in the Auto Repair Business! Do not see those OTC2000 anymore.
