Coolant Temperature Sender
Anyone have a GM part # for the sender for 1984 T/A 305 or a source for a correct sender for temp gauge in the dash (not idiot light)?
The unit I search for on Summit Racing, Napa, Rockauto are not like the unit in my car.
It has a clip, single wire, that slides perpendicular onto the sender extension that looks like the letter "T".
Thanks.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender
My memory is foggy on this but iirc the old style sending unit is either completely superceded, or very close to it, with the newer style sending unit.
edit: I may be thinking of the wrong one.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender
Right: AFAIK it hasn't been possible to buy a sending unit with the old "mushroom" connector for over 30 yrs now.
Not to worry though; the connector in the car plugs right onto a regular spade terminal like it was meant to.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender
Are u talking coolant sensor or coolant sender. Not the same. The sender is in the driver side between cyl 1 & 3 on the block. The pictures in the other thread look noting like what I have. Mine is also single wire. The block is the grounder. See the picture. It is for 1966 +/_ c10 v8 pickup. Old school.

Re: Coolant Temperature Sender
I'm talking temp gauge sending unit. Exactly what's in your photo, except that your photo is the REALLY OLD style, with ½" pipe threads. Heads since mid-70s sometime have 3/8" pipe instead. That's exactly what you can't buy anymore AFAIK.
Doesn't matter though; the connector in the car plugs right onto a regular spade terminal - the kind you CAN buy - like it was meant to.
