I just bought this car , it’s an 86 camaro. I plan on pulling the motor out , just not right now. I can’t tell what motor is in it but what I was told was it is a 350 small block out of a Chevy truck, bored 355 with a “mild cam, Holley 650 carb, aluminum intake” I cannot find numbers on the block anywhere besides behind rear driver side is a random number 5 and another one parallel about an inch away. It has two coolant temp sensors one connected to fan on passenger side and one on driver side not sure where it goes. One oil pressure sensor under distributor In the rear. Mechanical fuel pump lower passenger side front of engine. Can anyone please give me some insight or help me figure this out.
Try to get a better shot (I know its hard) of the block casting number. Likewise, you'll have to pull a valve cover to get the casting number off the heads. That will at least tell you what the foundation is. The cam, or any other detail of the motor will be unknown unless you tear into it. Heads are perimeter bolt so they are pre 87. Could indicate a non roller motor.

On the whole, a better downgrade than most... at least they put in a vac adv distributor, hooked up the fuel pump right, used an appropriate spacer to put the PS brackets back on with. I've seen FAR worse. Far better too of course, but a certain amount of care was at least exercised.
Looks like a Performer RPM Air Gap manifold. Probably a 0-1850 generic POS carb. But they did at least appear to get the right "geometry corrector" linkage thing for the 700 TV cable. That's something that will MURDER the transmission if not done right.
Some things I DON'T like, include the rubber fuel line, wiring not hooked up, the crimp splice in a Big Red Wire, the chrome-plated Zamak thermostat housing that is GUARANTEED to leeeeeeek sooner or later, the "breather" on the driver's side valve cover, the hose clamp just hanging loose on the brake booster line, ... but on the whole, I don't see anything that's just butchered beyond repair, as is so often the case. Not sure about the hose clamp on the #6 header tube either, that's kinda creepy.
Temp thing in the driver's side head is for the gauge.
