Question Regarding BurnOff (Code 36)

Hey everyone,

Finally getting the motivation to play with my car again.

I just have a general question about the Burn Off function. . .

If anyone has been following me through my journey with this car and this headache, you will know that during the fall I found an alleged NOS MAF sensor, I paid about $200 for it. Seemed pretty legit, came in the right box, had the little rubber caps on each side, looked new, cool cool cool.

Plug her in, and although I am getting a proper reading of air coming in, which is why I bought it, I get a code 36 almost immediately. I've gone through almost every trouble shooting option there is. Code occurs at startup regardless if I reset it or not. Relays have been swapped, grounds have been checked, wiring to the MAF seems solid, getting proper readings. Only thing I haven't done is try to hot wire the burnoff function.

I also have a Delphi, which did not throw the code, however I am under the impression, and please correct me im wrong, but somehow the Delphi bypasses the Burn Off function?

So although I don't get any codes with the Delphi, and the car runs well, I am running pretty rich due to the higher air reading from the Delphi. Would it be possible to reprogram the parameters of the computer to be in line with the Delphi reading?

Alternatively, how harmful would it be if I were to program out the BurnOff Function to allow me to use the Bosch NOS MAF so I can continue to knock potentials out for this Rich issue.

I am planning on swapping out the Oil Pressure Switch as that is one of the last thing I have not done, however if this doesn't work, I will be looking for alternative options.

Any input here?

Re: Question Regarding BurnOff (Code 36)

You can certainly program maf scalers and disable code 36 if needed.
