Re: 350 vortec help.
well. replaced the shocks, struts, front brakes, and cluster today. thinking about just running my stock 305 heads and tpi setup till i can save up and get some better heads. i dont want to waste my gasket set for the swirl heads and i have another set for my 305. only thing i would need is head gaskets for the 350 block to the 305 heads. that would keep me going for a bit while i save up. i know the tach is off. showing double the rpm. already emailed support.

Re: 350 vortec help.
Hey Tuned, i have a l31 tpi setup and would like to possibly run this cam. Is this much of an upgrade from stock l31 cam? I was going to slap tpi on and call it a day but at that cheap of a price for gm cam im thinking of going this route. Not wanting to do any head work as im building a ls1 and coming across this post it looks like i wont have to change anything to go this route? Or what would you recommend i replace if i go this route? Thank you!

@Fast355 might be a better guy to ask about the cam specs. I’d assume you would gain some hp and torque with that cam. I’m just not sure how much to expect. It’s close to crane 2032 that some guys have ran as is no tuning with good results. Tuning with datalog would give some more power as well.

I ordered the 94666492 cam here. Ordered on a Monday, received on a Thursday. It was $95 plus $10 shipping, unbelievable price!

Re: 350 vortec help.
so i have another finding today. i pulled the motor out last night, and tore it down today, i found the valve stem seals had been leaking for a while and have started to build up in the exhaust ports, and the egr port was fully blocked with black buildup. this at least explains the my losing more and more top end. it was building up and closing the exhaust ports more and more.
I have the 350 block clean and painted, and ready for the new cam. i had to drill and tap the holes for the spider plate. i also have to drill and tap the holes for the cam bushing behind the timing chain. i have been working on cleaning stuff up and getting things ready and doing a slow swap. found out i have to by a new harmonic balance as well as the old one was coming apart.
should the flywheel off the 305 work on the 350? it has no cracks or anything?
also look at thease cams.. left is new, mid is out of the 305 and right is out of the 350.. my new one looks like the same cam someone had in the 305???
left new, mid 305, right 350....
new motor getting ready and painted some stuff.
lots of cleaning to be done!!!
