a loud bang in first followed by neutral

was taking off fast at a light out of first the car was fully in gear and i had a rolling start then i came on to it and a loud BANG then the car didnt move while the shifter was still in 1st, i took it out in neutral and put it back to first and it worked fine. then today(2 weeks later) did the same thing. is my 1st gear wearing? what causes this.

Probably the teeth in the block ring are worn or not fully engaging or the fork pads are worn and not letting the block ring fully seat.


Also, you might get better responses in the transmission forum

Yep , God forbid he'd have posted it in the "Transmission/drivetrain" section , that would have made too much sense .
