Valve seals with heads off guide?

Bought some 'rebuilt' heads off ebay but turned out they were pulls from remanned engines so I have no idea how old the seals are and don't want to chance them leaking.

How hard are the valve seals with the heads off the car? I've never done them before nor have I removed valve springs or anything like that... so little nervous.

Any step by step guides? What will I need?

It is BEYOND eeeeeeezy. So eeeeeeeeeeeezy even I can do it.

"Rent" yourself one of the C-clamp looking compressors. One look at it, you won't have any trouble figuring out what to do next.

Use the "positive" type seals. NOT umbrella, NOT the stock O-rings. Replace the springs while you're at it: kind of a no-brainer. Get an assortment of shims and set them up to the correct installed height (probably 1.700"). Do away with the "splash shields" and exhaust valve "rotators", if any of those dead-weight things are still infecting your parts. You'll need about .090" extra of shim to make up for the "rotators". I'd recommend Comp 981 springs: a good dependable drop-in for stock ones, that will take AHELLUVALOT more abuse than stock, up to around .480" of lift as set up without extremely accurate tools, will work fine with stock cams & lifters but also with most relatively mild aftermarket cams. (all this, assuming a V8)
