Fuel tank sender install questions
While waiting for my fuel tank to be restored, a few questions came to mind.
1. I forgot where the big o-ring goes for the fuel tank sending unit. Does it go in between the sender and the tank or in between the lock ring and the sender?
2. I used a hammer and brass punch to remove the sender, but are there any tricks to getting it back on without the GM/Kent-Moore tool? Would the hammer and punch work to install as well? Is there a better way? How do the folks here who have had the privilege of replacing the fuel pump on our cars do it?

2: Just use a flat head screwdriver and gently tap it back in place. You need to tap on the lock tabs evenly. You'll see the ring will float and not want to stay centered doing it this way, but it's easy enough to move it around as long as you tap all around it, not just in one place. I've done this 6 times. I've never had a problem. Just don't come down on it like you're playing wack-a-mole and you'll be fine.

1: Sender o-ring goes under the sender flange, not the lock ring.
2: Just use a flat head screwdriver and gently tap it back in place. You need to tap on the lock tabs evenly. You'll see the ring will float and not want to stay centered doing it this way, but it's easy enough to move it around as long as you tap all around it, not just in one place. I've done this 6 times. I've never had a problem. Just don't come down on it like you're playing wack-a-mole and you'll be fine.

Sure enough, there was a nice diagram. Thanks for confirming. LOLI will be gentle with the lock ring. I figured I could get it back in the way it came out. I don't have to worry about igniting the fuel in the tank since it's been clean and lined. Thanks for your help EDGE!
