Vortec Style Intake Gaskets

I've tried several and while I can say I haven't had a failure, that doesn't mean that I won't this time around.
I've found these. The reviews are mixed.

GM Performance 89017465 (also sold as AC Delco 89017465)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
FelPro MS98000T

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

FelPro 1255

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

FelPro MS90131-2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

RHS 1707 (as recommended for their Pro Torker heads.)

I use FelPro MS98000T on all of my vortec head builds and never had a single problem out of them.

Re: Vortec Style Intake Gaskets

i've used the GM gaskets and the identical in every way Dorman gaskets, and they both worked fine.. i did have to replace the GM gaskets, but that was my fault because i managed to break it in half when i had the intake off somehow..

That's one I actually haven't tried. I like the looks of the metal core to go along with the silicone beading. One thing I don't like about it, and the similar plastic/metal carrier style gaskets, is that the intake ports aren't isolated from each other as there's no beading between them. No sure how that plays out into how the engine performs. You would think the vacuum would be messed up to some degree. I used to use them exclusively ( the MS90131-2) until I was convinced to try the Fel-Pro 1255.

Looking further I see there's more than one gasket from GM. The 89017465 I quoted is from GM Performance. There's another domestic gasket, PN 12561347. Is that the one you're referring too? I haven't been able to find a direct to it on-line. There's also GMs 12529094 but I can't find a description or picture of that one either.

Re: Vortec Style Intake Gaskets

Had an issue with the ones on my DD cracking and went with the felpro ones with the metal core. I have about 50k on them and no issues at all. The plastic ones cracked within 10k.

Re: Vortec Style Intake Gaskets

Looking more like the MS98000T might be the way to go.

Interesting twist here is that with my heads getting milled, I may end up with intake alignment issues. The Fel-Pro 1255 I've had been using is .120" thick and that might be what I need for best fitment. If I recall, the typical plastic carrier gasket is only .060" compressed.
Does anyone have a MS98000T to measure? (That's the Fel-Pro metal core with silicone beading.)

Anyone?

Further to that, looking at a closeup of the picture on the Fel-Pro website, it appears that there is beading between the intake ports. Can anyone verify that too?

Re: Vortec Style Intake Gaskets

I just use the regular plastic ones... Never had a problem. Even reused one pair a bunch of times.
