I have a 1992 Camaro rs, with 305 TBI engine. I had removed my cylinder heads to replace head gaskets and also to remove a stuck sensor (major strip and got it out), when I take things apart, I always lay them out so they go back in the correct order. but since it decides to rain and I had to move everything and delay my finishing of the job, something doesn't seem right when I am trying to reconnect the engine ground strap along with a couple other ground wires. This is for the passenger cylinder head. There is one thread that sticks out the back, and the air injection to catalytic converter bracket slides onto, but I all three of the ground wires and the bolt aren't sliding over. I feel like there was another bolt I unbolted to connect the wires onto the back, but the only one I found was one that actually goes to the negative battery. So either I have the right idea and lost a bolt, and I am not sure how it hooks back up. if anyone knows or even has a picture of the back, that would be great. I can't find any pictures online. Thanks!

Just go to the store and get a short 3/8"-16 bolt, like ¾" long. It goes in any of the holes in the end of the head, pass side, sorta near the heater hose connections on the firewall.

Are you sure the bolts are 3/8"? Seems like they are 5/16", IIRC.

EDIT: Sorry.Please disregard.They are 3/8". I just cleaned up a set of heads last nite & chased all the threads.I knew I had used a 5/16" tap, but, that was on the intake mounting holes.Sorry for any confusion.

Yep most all holes are 3/8"-16 on a small block chevy... All acc. bolt holes on ends of heads, water pump holes, exhaust bolt holes, bellhousing/trans bolt holes.

Intake bolts are 3/8-16 as well for all but the vortec heads ('55-95 gen 1). Starting in '96 on the vortec heads they went down to a 5/16" thread for the intake

Yep I was working on a set of 906 vortec heads.I just remembered I was fussing & cussing be cuz I couldn't find a 5/16" tap.It didn't hit me til rite after I made the post that It was for the intake bolt holes.

Yea I think I even found the old bolt, but I bought a new one anyway. I couldn't remember how the ground wires were attached to the back side of the head. Now, I created myself a new problem. Engine is almost put back together. Been trying to get the exhaust manifolds back on. I don't have the means to actually pull an engine out, so I've done the job under the hood (which I've done in the past on my other Camaro), except as I try to keep my bolts in the order I removed them, the exhaust bolts got mixed up, and now I cannot figure which length goes through which holes. I have figured the center couple, but the front 2 and the back 2, I keep getting something wrong. so now I am trying to figure that out.
