Filter in fuel tank?
For a 1986 LG4, originally a mechanical fuel pump, NO pump in the tank, is there a filter at the pickup in the tank?
It has a new Carter electric pump below tank level. I get only a pulse of pressure when the pump starts, and it immediately returns to 0 psi on the gage with the pump still running. It sure looks like a clogged pickup to me, but I just wanted some assurance that I'm not dropping the tank for no reason. I've never seen the inside of a 3rd Gen tank.
Thanks in advance.

Yes.

Rod the pickup tube out with a coat hanger while you're in there. Or better yet, just change it out. For that matter a new pickup probably will come with a new strainer sock.
