Hi All

I would like to ask you questions/opinions, about a Camaro or T/A GTA with the 350ci engine (5700cc), ranging from 220 to 235HP.

1) What is the top speed? In particular, what is the T/A GTA top speed?
I've read somewhere a guy drove it till 150mph, but it sound too much optimistic.

2) What is the 0-60mph time?
I've read online it's 6.5/6.7sec, but this also seems to be pretty upbeat.
I clocked my GTA at 8sec, but it was a bad acceleration since wheels "drifted". However I dont think I could do better than 7secs at the best.

3) Do you feel secure and safe when driving over 60mph in a thirdgen car? What about over 80-90mph?

Idk my mostly stock 305 tbi 91 bird would do about 110 mph tops .. after some mods and rear gears mabey 220 mph @ 190fwhp w 4.10 gears ... after a engine rebuild it would do around 130 @ 6000rpm in 4th gear still had another gear ... I think stock 350 gta would do around 140 mph and 14 sec 1/4 .. I wouldn't suggest 100+mph without KNOWING ur vehicle front to back ... good tires, brakes , steering, suspension, etc.etc. etc. ... and a closed environment is always a plus ... an abandoned airway would b nice for everyone to have around lol but we all know that's not gonna happen

With the stock brakes, highway speeds I felt safe. Once the cars weak points are modified, I've had no issues in my 91 up to 135mph. Felt fine.

A lot factors into the 0-60 mph time but most stock third gens with the 350 was in the 6.5 range. Some specs on some said 6.2 on a few, 6.4, 6.7 on others.

The 305 cars are close to a second slower 0-60.

Again a lot of factors play in, put a set of sticky tires on rear, aftermarket LCAs and torque arm and you can drop the 0-60 mph time by close to a full second with out touching anything on the engine.

Top speed also deals with gearing and power, somewhere around 130-145 mph was the listed top speed of the GTAs.

My 1988 RS is no where close to stock anymore and over double the HP your asking about but I had mine to 151 mph, I was gear limited due to 3 speed auto trans and deeper rear gear.

My 0-60 mph is 2.9 sec.

I went 145mph on the test drive of my 89 formula 350. It felt very stable.
Over the years i have modded it and gone over 200mph.

I feel safe at speed with my t/a. No vibrations that were causing alarm. As far as how fast I've gone. Well my speedo only goes to 85 mph sooooooooo faster then 85 mph. the needle was bouncing

When I had my 83 z28 with an upgrade from the 305 to the 350 gm crate engine (275 hp) and got top speed of 120 and it could have gone more...lol and no i didn't feel safe at that point.
my current ride 88 iroc-z 305 tbi...I've had it to 80 and it was smooth but I just got the car 2 weeks ago so I'm still learning the car and trying to get it to earn my trust in its capabilities. I know it handles pretty good for a 27 year old car...new KYB struts helped allot too.
