Question about Fuel Pump Swap; Does the exhaust need to be cut?

Hey all so i got a quick question about fuel pump job/swap. So im getting ready to re do my exhaust, headers back, and i wanted to get in my TPI fuel pump while i had all my exhaust off. I thought i read some where that in order to drop our fuel tanks in these cars, you have to have the exhaust cut. I recently found another thread stating that you DO NOT have to cut the exhaust?? Do you have to or not? I really wanted to get my fuel pump in while my exhaust was off but i dont think thats going to be possible (now with a time crunch im dealing with) So my question is

Does the exhaust need to be cut in order to perform a fuel pump swap/job?? Any information or advice is greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Ghetto, I did mine with the azz end up on stands, lowered the rear, disconnected the hangers on the exhaust, and dropped the tank, no problems. Stock exhaust.
replaced pump and then reversed order everything else, no problems.

I also read on here about cutting. I did not have to

Ah ok nice it worked out! I wonder if it would be the same hangers on aftermarket exhaust? (flowmaster catback)

Well its not on yet, but the only locations i see a hanger being hung from is the over the axle pipe, and the driver side tail pipe. Is that how the stock exhaust is hung? (I have some crappy aftermarket exhaust system on at the moment)

Thanks for your info!!

I just pulled mine out, there looks to be enough room once the rear is lowered, to disconnect the I-pipe at the back of the cat and slide it all out...my pipe was rusted out, so I whacked it apart anyways
