oil fouling just one side?

Like the title says it's only on the drivers side. The number 7 cylinder being the worse.

Is it possible I screwed u-p the intake gaskut putting the Manafold on.

The PCV when I check for vacuume there has none. I go through a quart or two every thousand. The motor only has 5 to 6k on it,

thanks

Re: oil fouling just one side?

I had a vehicle that I needed to change the plugs only on one side every 6 months due to fouling. I even tried hotter plugs on that side to see if it could burn off the deposits with limited results.

I changed the valve seals on that head and the problem went away.

bottom of the ports sucking oil ins't all that uncommon with a bad seal, bone stock never opened or rebuilt. should be worse when you jump on it. [ smoke show out tail pipe. ] I use a thin layer of ThreeBond 1194 on my intake gaskets.

Re: oil fouling just one side?

The motor is a 330hp Vortech crate motor. I did put a new intake on it maybe I screwed it up. Just to much of a fluke for it to be just on one side for it to be valve seals. But will put new seals in if I have too.

It really blows blue smoke on deceleration. But...on the other heand it seems to have good vacuume.

Is there anyway to test where it is coming from? Should I do a leak down test? Will that tell me if it is seals?

Re: oil fouling just one side?

Leak down won't tell you. At best, all it tests, is the compression rings, and the valve seats. Neither of those things is responsible for oil smoke.

Intake gasket is BY FAR the single most likely cause. See my signature for a mental discipline that applies to situations like this.

Re: oil fouling just one side?

I am going to change the gaskets first. Any sugestions on brands or tricks would be nice.

Re: oil fouling just one side?

Threebond 1194, tiny thin layer, both sides, doesn't dry hard, stays liquid to seal with heat expansion, its the replacement for YamahaBond 4
