A.I.R system

So it just came up in another thread of mine and had me thinking. When I was young I cut out the air system and put on headers with out the tubes. I never plugged any of the ports in the motor where tubing came out. Is there any problem with not plugging the ports?

Re: A.I.R system

If the headers you installed did not have the A.I.R. tubes, then you've got little to nothing to worry about. Assuming that you either left any vacuum lines in place or capped those off is all you'd have to worry about. The big concern would be if you had headers with A.I.R. tubes and didn't have a check valve on them to prevent hot exhaust gases from entering the engine compartment or if those same check valves went bad and got stuck open. Otherwise, you'll be fine.
