Running double V belts to PS pump?

Good day all,

Have a question about my belt setup from my old LG4 that is going on my 350.

I have the ribbed belt for water pump and alt. V belt for the power steering.

When I install Hydroboost into the car, Can I run a 2nd matching v belt from the power steering pump to the crank like the first one is already?

Normally the other open v grooves would be for air conditioning, which I don't have AC. The AC belt rides on the 2nd PS groove though

Thinking of doing this for redundancy, if one belt let go I still might have the other, meaning I still have good brakes and steering.....

Thoughts? seems like it will work and I have a 2 new belts, so no real cost for me.

Thanks all and have a great day!

If my memory isn't letting me down, '86-'87 V8 3rd gens with AC had a double V-groove pulley on the PS pump.

Re: Running double V belts to PS pump?

Yes 80's gm trucks with AC had them also, thats where mine is from.

I'm also thinking about using the larger Saginaw PS pump from trucks that 'had' hydroboost(80's chevy 'K' series), like the one shown below. the smaller pump pictured is 'stock size' with two returns. The bigger pump has a bigger reservoir and from what I read has flow better and pressure. Anyone see this pump NOT fitting? they mount the same way and I have lots of space in that area....only have alt wp and ps for accessories.

also pictured is double groove ps pulley, Ill definitely be doing this and running two belts I think.

The girlfriend will end up driving it one day(with me in it!! lol) so 100% guarantee of brakes at all times is a must.
