Throttle cable too long
Hello, my 1984 Camaro had a 2.8 liter V6 engine in it originally. I swapped in a 355 SBC several years back. The one issue I never fixed was the throttle cable. The V6 throttle cable is too long for my 355. While it does function, it needed to be coiled up and the throttle is now unnecessarily stiff and it sticks occasionally. If I remember right the V6 throttle cable connected to the carburetor on the passengers side, where the 355 hooks up on the drivers side, thinking this is where the length problem comes from. My question is this... Can I get a throttle cable that is the correct length for use with my 355? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Throttle cable too long
I have thought of that just couldn't find one. I tried searching on ebay and found a few that were for tpi and even an LS conversion. Not sure exactly what to search for. I will try searching "F-Body with a 4bbl V8"If you have a line on where I can find one please share. Thanks for your help Vetteoz.

Re: Throttle cable too long
What I did was carefully cut the outer sheathing to the right length with a cut off wheel on my 4 1/2 grinder. Then taking the end off of the sheathing that was to long off and super glued it to the end of the freshly cut cable. Finally putting the cable in the bracket and then cutting the tiny braided cable itself to length. Then I used an electrical eyelet and soldered it to the end of the cable. Going on five years and no problems yet.

I cut through the outer sheathing and the metal rapping with the cut off wheel and then used a razor knife to cut the plastic tube that the cable runs thruogh.

This one maybe ?
http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...2428&ppt=C0333
One of these , both are listed for early F-Bodies w/ 5.0 engines
Measure how long yours is and compare

Re: Throttle cable too long
Thanks for the links Vetteos, I checked them out and I think you are on the right track here, the only thing that confuses me is they say in the description that these throttle cables can be used for both the 5.0L and the 2.8L Going to have to investigate this further. Maybe I will put a part wanted add in the classifieds. Any other advice or links are welcome friends.

Re: Throttle cable too long
I cannot get to my car to measure, well I can get to the car but we had rain/snow yesterday and the hood and doors are frozen shut ): Do I measure from the firewall to the end of the cable or do I need to remove the throttle cable and measure it's total length?
