Which starter?

Which starter?
I have a 69 327 block and have a 153 tooth flywheel on it, so I need the smaller starter. Looking at the block, it looks like it will take either the straight or staggered starter, is this right? From what I've read, it originally came with the 168 tooth larger starter with staggered bolt holes. It looks like there is a 3rd hole to mount a starter with the straight bolt pattern though.

Re: Which starter?
Yes it looks like someone drilled it. Rather freshly in fact.
Use a starter for the 12.8" ring gear.

I used this starter on mine

It is for the 153 tooth flywheel. It weighs a lot less than the oem starter and spins the engine over faster. Great price too!
