Tools Needed?
So it seems as if my engine has taken a crap on me. Sounds like a horrible rod knock so i have chosen to replace the engine. I am in a new home and have no tools, so I am planning on going out and purchasing some. Is there any place where I can get an extensive listing on the tools needed to complete this swap?

Re: Tools Needed?
You may need a crow bar to pry the motor from the tranny,..... something to catch fluids......and most importantly you should get at least a six pack of cold beer.

It's "technician attitude adjustment fluid" now.

Lol I don't know after a few beers I may just get liquid courage and attempt to remove the engine by hand...

That's been done too... did a Pontiac (uggggh) motor that way once, back in the 70s; about a 66 or thereabouts LeMans, if memory serves. 4 guys. It was a workout.

Awe man I can't Imagine. I was just making sure there wasn't anything special or particular that I needed to get this engine out. Back in March I bought this car used from a dealership and now its got a nasty Rod knock. Its my only car and I'm trying to replace this engine in my car quickly and as cost efficiently as possible :[

Re: Tools Needed?
Tools you will need, will depend mostly on how far you intend to carry the repair on your own.
Just to remove the engine though, a set of metric and SAE sockets, from ¼" to ¾" and 7mm to 18mm; ¼", 3/8", & ½" ratchets; extensions and wobble joints in each size; combo wrenches over the same range; jack stands, floor jack, tire iron, prybar, penetrating oil, engine stand to put it on once it's out.
Rent a cherry picker from yer local rental yard when the moment of truth arrives.

Ah ok, doesn't sound too bad, I am just planning on removing the damaged engine and replacing it with another one that I have, so it will be a in and out procedure. I just have to figure out how much tools will set me back
