It only hurts if it's yours (or if you happen to see it).

At work today, sales guy asks me what my newest "toy" is..... I tell him a mint 85 TA, and the look is always the same. Then i even get asked, "oh cool, is it all jacked up?" Sooooo frustrating lol.

Or the smart@** who asks if it has a hitch on it. And to as far a "jacking it up" I run a set of adjustable shocks in the rear so when I take it to the track I can put the fat tires under it so that they fit but then bring it back down when I put the regular tires back on.

If he wanted a tuner he should have bought a tuner. I don't even want to think how much money he put into that poor Firebird to make it like that. What a shame.

For the love of god why is there a cage over the park brake handle.....and yes, that is a nitrous bottle if u look between the rear seats......sigh...
If the car went mid 11's, and looked like it does, I would drive it cause I'm arrogant enough to find it amusing.

Ok, I totally agree with you guys about the whole look, as in looks HORRIBLE. However, and you can call me hillbilly, but I wouldn't mind at all having a tow hitch on my 85 z-28. It comes in handy sometimes. *runs and hides before the flamethrowers come out*

Re: Sometimes its painfull owning a third gen

Lmao, I really coulda used it today. Cut up a 50+ year old oak for a friend. Another friend across town wants 2-3ft sections of the trunks for making chairs and such. I could only get one piece into the back of our minivan. Would've killed for a trailer and hitch, lol.

Re: Sometimes its painfull owning a third gen

I will also admit back when my 3rdgen was my only car, I did have a custom hitch made for it so I could tow a moving trailer with it. But then I went and bought a truck so never ended up using it. I can't count how many times I've tripped over that stupid hitch sitting in my garage that I'll never use either lol.

...wow that sooo takes the cake and beats a riced out 4 cylinder hatch fox body that used to run around in my hometown. That thing had a wing that came up almost to the top of the hatch ,clears, wire rims (i think they were 15's they looked normal sized)fart can exhaust, and a body kit that looked like was intended for some import made to fit it. Wish i had a pic to share lmao

The Knight Rider theme is not even a song I would have thought of. Nothing about that car is even remotely similar or related to Knight Rider at all. Not one shred.lol

Now, it's still an '82 Trans Am underneath all that. Give me a day and I could put it back to normal. It's not totally lost yet.

Completely off topic but isn't that the 82TA that one Hot Rod's Drag Week Fastest Street Car? Had to drive from track to track, carrying all tools, tires, and spare parts in a trailer pulled behind the car.

Sad as it is, there are most certainly red necks in my area that would think that f'ed up car is cool. Nitrous or not, you don't put a blower hood on a stock engined car.
