Valve spring retainer question - *see pics*

In the middle of changing valve springs, retainers, and locks on a1988 LB9.

Using Comp Cams:

Springs: 983-16
Retainers: 751-16
Locks: 611-16

The question is, do I re-use the stock "oil shield" that sits inbetween the spring and the retainer? My guess would be no, since the retainer doesn't fit into the shield perfectly square. Without the shield, the retainer sits really nice and flat. Pics with and without shield attached:

Advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Yup, ditch them.
You'll need a decent spring shim for the exhaust valves if you remove the rotators..

Thanks for responses.

Any estimate on shim thickness in order to compensate for deleting rotators on exhaust side? Heads are stock 14101081 and have not had any machine work done on the spring seat pockets.
