Pretty self explanatory. I know Timken makes good bearings, but I can't seem to find the matching inner/outer bearing part numbers for it (I see the LE option but I definitely don't have that so they're not usable). This is for my 88 RS. Price isn't an issue, I just want quality bearings that will live up to abuse. I also only need part numbers for the front; I've got a 9" on the way right now so the rear is already taken care of.

The SET6 inner bearing, SET34 outer. Any of the parts stores should carry them.

timken is still mostly made in the USA,i have found some from Canada,Australia,France and Poland also.

ordering from RockAuto right now, that's why I'm asking. Haha . I'm finishing up the odds and ends on the car, and I'm in the process of ordering the remaining steering replacements. Figured I might as well replace the bearings while I'm at it since they're cheap in comparison and seem to be fairly easy to replace. Thanks for the heads up.

Along the same lines, do you have to replace the rotors at the same time? Or is the race removable? Im wanting to do mine this winter as well. Thanks

The race can be removed/installed. IIRC, I used a brass drift, whacking North, South, East, and West.

I bought a set of Delco branded NDK bearings for my 72 GTO.
The inner set was stamped NDK made in USA
The outer set was stamped NDK made in china !!!!!!!!!!!!!

timkin is in braintree mass you can send them a burnt bearing from another car they will match it up and send what you need I've been there several times when Ilived in mass they have every bearing imaginable.

These bearing sets are very common so they are cheap. Buy something brand name such as Timken, SKF or National. Don't forget new inner seals while you're at it.

^ What he said. I bet most of the brand name stuff are probably made at the same factory. I bought National ones from Auto parts store here. Also know if you're doing new rotors they usually come with races already installed. Don't forget your high temp grease and work out the air bubbles and pack the heck out of the bearings too. New cotter pins too. The old ones usually are bent to heck.

I found the races from the new bearings work great as a inner seal installer. Fit great to let me tap the seal in flush. I'm keeping mine around just to use them for that purpose.

Unless your rotors are like new, I would replace them while everything is apart.
I see them on ebay for $35 each free shipping.
Not worth the trouble tearing it all apart twice if they are worn substantially now!

I ordered all Timken parts yesterday from RockAuto. 2x sets of inner and outer bearings and the inner seals. $21 Hard to beat.

Just an FYI, since it came up earlier..........Both sets of Timken Bearings are stamped "USA"

The Timken inner seal however is made in Taiwan.

Mine just came in and are also stamped USA, for reference.

Brand name parts typically have some minimum engineering standard that y ou can rely on. Just having the name "USA" printed on them isn't always enough. It's completely legit for the USA Manufacturing Company of China to print "USA" on the part.

the bearings in my 85 were plastic. I went to replace them. The front outers the national brand , only thing they had were .015 or .030" cant remember exactly. but different. the bearings were ok. so i returned the new ones. stuffed em with grease and their still rolling around. I just mentioned this since no one else has..
