should i get these cylinder heads?

Alright I found these Dart 10024360A cylinder heads with 165cc intake runners, 76cc combustion chambers, 1.94 intake and 1.50 exhaust valves. Are these heads good to get with my set up.

Right now i have a 350 TBI with GM performance zz4 intake, headers and exhaust, lt1 cam, oh the block been bore to .040, and it has the stock heads.

I found them on craigslist and he asking for $475 for the pair should i jump on it or wait?

Eh I think I would pass. It will drop your compression ratio down a lot. Theyre not really that great that they would offset your loss in compression.

Re: should i get these cylinder heads?

Afrs and bigger darts would be best, Trick Flows are great I have them. Patriot and RHS make reasonably priced aluminum heads. Or see if you can find some Chevy aluminum heads vette style.

I think the Dart Heads you are looking at are for a 305.

Re: should i get these cylinder heads?

Look for a set of aluminum heads, anywhere from 180-190cc runners of even 195's if you plan on changing the cam, also shoot for a 64-65cc chamber, this would give you some okay compression, my guess would be somewhere about 9.3-10.1 depending on the compression height of the piston.

The reason I asked about deck and piston was to get an idea of what you compression would be with a 76cc chamber, its not that you cant go with larger chambers its just that you would need a cam that would give you much more dynamic compression, these days no one runs large chambers anymore plus a 165cc runner is on the small side for a 350.

I would hold out save some more money and look for a head that would best fit your application,, I've seen good used heads for $700-800 that would be a much better fit.

Re: should i get these cylinder heads?

Check out the vortec heads, you'll need a matching intake though.

Re: should i get these cylinder heads?

The Vortec head are good if your on a real tight budget, they'll be fine with the lt1 cam you have but if you plan on a cam change in the future you will be limited on lift unless you do some work to them, your intake won't work though so keep that in mind.

Re: should i get these cylinder heads?

i'd get the heads.. the 76cc chambers will give you about 9:1 compression ratio with the flat top pistons and a .015 shim head gasket.

ask if you can get a guarantee that you can take them to a machinist and get them checked for cracks and warpage and get your money back if something is wrong with them. if not, offer $100 less.

you aren't going to find any better heads for less money unless someone sells you a set of vortecs with upgraded springs and the matching intake and what not for the same price..
