my buddies car died yesterday after a cruise through the twisty roads on the way home

problem- car was running fine well running it hard through some twisty roads then shut it off for 10mins started it back up and he was running rough (sounded like 6 cylinders) then a kilometre down the road it slowly died? let the car cool down then tried to start it and it would start up and instantly die about 3-5 seconds later (sounded strong)

A day later it still does the same thing, starts runs for 3-5 seconds then dies no matter if you dont touch gas or floor it (sounds strong)

whats been tried

scanner- no error codes
checked all connections
checked fuses
VATS seem fine on keys
MAF- unplugged to put car in "limp" mode
oil pressure sending unit
fuel pressure seems fine, going to check with a gauge tomorrow


new parts

fuel pump
valves
plugs
plug wires
pretty much a top end rebuild

ANY ideas? anything will help!

according to the firebird service manual, you should check to see if THERMAC is working right.
however the last two, options are to check engine timing, and if the car has bad gasoline...
both seem pretty good to check.
