WTF DID I DO-- HE IS DEAD JIM !!!
oil pressure was kinda low so I got a mechanical oil pressure gauge to confirm malfunction .. yep oil pressure low .. like 13 psi at idle .. 42 at 2000 rpm 65 3500 rpm not good -- Change engine oil drain - royal purple 10W30 out opened up oil filter found nothing no metal .. fill with royal purple 15w40 . prime fill filter ... crank engine till I get oil pressure ...GUESS WHAT ENGINE WILL NOT BUILD ANY OIL PRESSURE AT ALL BEEN SPINNING THE CRAP OUT OF IT !! both gauges read (000000000) time for new engine AGAIN !!!! .....
Tell you what Melling can do with their (P.O.S.) Oil pump !!

make sure the pickup didnt fall off the pump.
i take it that this isnt the stock engine, did u weld the pickup to the pump?
did u replace the stock oil pump driveshaft when it was put together

Re: WTF DID I DO-- HE IS DEAD JIM !!!
I concur, my 4.3L S-10 has oil pressure very similar, almost identical in fact, to those numbers. I don't like how low it is at idle, but the truck has run great for 80k miles thus far with those numbers. I should mention however that I am not sure of the psi during cranking. I would expect at least 1-2psi myself, but I cannot confirm right now. I'll go crank up my truck while watching the gauge and get back to you on that. If you want more pressure you can upgrade to a new pump, but don't upgrade just because you think those numbers are low.
P.S. love the star trek reference :P

Oil pressure seems normal to me. That's what my 350 runs at about.
