Dowel Pins for Bellhousing Question

Has anyone tried to remove the two 5/8" taped dowel pins at the rear face of cylinder block that the Bellhousing fits over? Is this hard to do? Any special tools needed?

Not hard; they're just a press fit.

Just drive them out from the front side of the block. I've even done it in car to put offset pins in.

RBob.

I have the trans out for a clutch replacement. Getting the bellhousing off was a b***h! The dowels are rusty and want to replace them.

Does anyone know the recommended thread sealant to use on the three small oil gallery plugs above the large core plug?

Thanks!

Yes you should use sealer. The Loctite/Permatex thread sealer product is fine.

A home make guide for the trans on two the dowels is to long starter bolt with a the heads cut off them and a slot cut into them.Screw them in on each side and slide on the trans using them as a guide.
