Changed Vac Advance now car wont start
I swapped over to a 0-10 degree adjustable vac advance on my 84 firebird (modified 350, rebuilt non-ccc quad, 10:1 comp, flattop pistons, edelbrock performer-plus cam) and now my car wont start. It acts like it wants to but just wont actually start. I tried unplugging the advance and that didnt work. I then put the old advance back on to try it and it still wont start. Before I swapped them I drove it back from work so I'm confused what could of happened?
I put a new cap, rotor, plugs, and wires on it about 6 months ago and they all still look good.

It sounds like the timing is off. Mark your distributor in its current position. Disconnect and pulg the vaccumm hose to the vaccumm advance. Try starting the car while moving the distributor a quarter of an inch advanced or retarded. If you get it to start you will need to set the timing with a timing light. Then you can reattach the vaccumm advance. Hope this helps.

So it was running, you unplugged the dist, reconnected it, and now it won't run. Sounds like something happened with the connector or wiring. Are you getting any spark when you crank it?

You screwed up something not to do with the new dist or advance setting
Back to basics ; need gas and spark to start
Have you got gas ( coming out of the carb?)
