Re: Vacuum Line
What idle problems are you having? And you don't have a picture up. But there are also lines along the firewall that go to the wiper pump that look really similar to the vac lines

Re: Vacuum Line
well it plugs right into that little cylinder next to your wiper pump. I unplugged it and it draws less than a pound of vacuum and didn't hurt my idle at all even when I romped on it a little

Re: Vacuum Line
i looked all over the pump and couldn't find a spot for it. its at work right now cause thats where I've been working on it. ill have to look at it tomorrow. i appreciate it. and i figured out my idle problem. i readjusted my rockers cause i heard a slight tick and after i started it up there was no more up and down in the idle.

Re: Vacuum Line
I believe that hard vac line operates the vents in the heat/ac system.

Wouldn't stop the heat from working but would stop you from being able to change from floor to dash to defrost. It is the vacuum feed that feeds all the vacuum operated doors that direct the air flow of the HVAC system.

Re: Vacuum Line
Well my car is an 85 and the CFI cars are quite a bit different. Mine goes up right near the wiper motor where there is a T fitting. One goes to the vacuum ball and cruise control and the other to the HVAC system. I see your vacuum canister is behind the brake booster. My vacuum ball is located in the front bumper.
Also make sure your map sensor is hooked up to vacuum. That looks to be located just to the right of the vacuum canister in your picture.

Re: Vacuum Line
If you can't find a place for it you are better off sticking a screw in it and plugging it than leaving it open.

Re: Vacuum Line
I took some pics for you and found the HVAC line actually goes over to the passenger side. But it gets its feed by the brake booster.
Right behind my coil it goes into the harness which ends up going through the firewall.
I hope it helps on your 82

Re: Vacuum Line
I don't know the exact original plumbing, but it should be something like:
Intake vaccum goes to a one-way valve (to keep vac in the canister), which then T's off to the vac canister and the hvac hard plastic line.
If the path back to the intake is left open, you will have a vac leak. If you leave the hard line unplugged, you will have no hvac operation but no other ill effects so long as whatever pipe that goes back to the intake is capped off.
Edit: LilSki posted just before I did - his first pic shows the one-way valve - vac fed from picture left, and T's off to the hvac and canister on the right. In his case though there is no canister (later model), instead a hose goes off to the 'orb of power' in the fender (same function as the canister).

Re: Vacuum Line
thanks ill have to take a look. hopefully yours is somewhat the same but i don't have anything like that by the booster. ill have to figure it out. if i can't ill end up plugging it. i really appreciate it though. I'm almost wondering if it was disconnected from before i even bought the car cause i don't even remember disconnecting it and none of that worked in the car anyway. i always thought the doors were stuck in the ducts. ill have to look deeper

A lil late to answer but for anyone who still has this question, that vac line goes to the EGR Purge control solonoid that has an IN and OUT that is bolted along with the ignition coil I believe this line goes to the out and the in goes to the rear intake connection of the plenum on the passenger side
to be safe look up the vac line routing for the exhaust gas recirculation system and yes this will cause idle problems...hope this helps.
