This is a vid of my stock camaro. was sitting for about 8 years and got it running, now going to start tuneing it and getting it ready for races.

Re: What you guys think??
Gangsta lyrics made me lol.
I like the Too Short reference.
It's not bad shape cosmetically for an old heap.
It seems the engine needs some help probably both mechanically and tune-wise.
20 seconds? seems a bit excessive even for a V6.
You've really got to expect it to need a lot of TLC being so old and possibly abused maintenance wise though.
Lots of positive potential there. Nothing that can't be overcome.
I suggest a couple of things. First, take the time to learn how to bring it back to its original performance level first before you start any sort of hot-rodding, or you could just create big problems for yourself.
Second, I would hide the boom-boom so you don't come out to your car one day and see a busted window, and some other guy from the highschool bumping the next day with your stuff.

Re: What you guys think??
oh and as for the engine. im not sure if im going to keep this engine and do what my good friend fasteddi did with his v6 or just drop a ls1 in it.. still going toe to toe. ls1 is becoming slim though because the total costs it would come out to.

FULL tune up. Is this your DD? If not are you planning on engine swap or just going to leave the v6?

Re: What you guys think??
On your own you can go into the DIYPROM section here and start reading everything, especially the stickies.
look at your ECM and get the service number off of it.
look at your chip and get the broadcast code (alpha) off of it.
download TunerPro software,
download a definition file for your ECM.
download a BIN file similar to the one on your chip.
start getting familiar with using the software, and what all (info) is there.
Get a $40 ALDL cable and use a laptop to start datalogging your car and studying how it works now. Troubleshoot any problems you may have this way. Converse with people here and in the DIYPROM section as to your datalogging results.
Download a Hack file for the code that runs in your ECM, or the next closest version of that code. Start studying it and asking questions. It will help teach you what is really going on behind the scenes as your ECM controls the operation of your engine, how, why, etc...
Eventually when you feel comfortable with the software and what you're looking at, buy a chip burner. Download the BIN file from your chip that's in your ECM now. Look at the calibration data using TunerPro software.
Start off small and simple by making a change or two to your calibration, - easy things that you can observe the results of visually, or by using your datalogging software. Proceede from there cautiously and seek the advice of experienced tuners until eventually you are comfortable with PROM tuning, and can easily control the tune of your V6 engine, and interpret the results of datalogging.
Next buy a wideband O2 sensor and reader, so you can monitor the air/fuel ratio in your exhaust in real-time, and check the results of the ECM's engine management activities, and the results of your tuning attempts. you will need to have an additional O2 sensor bung welded into your exhaust pipe just downstream of your factory O2 sensor, but not too far away. You will also need a plug for this bung, for when you do not have the wideband installed on the car. Only buy stainless bungs & plugs. An old O2 sensor can be used as a plug for the bung if necessary.
You may also want to install a pyrometer, or use a K-type thermocouple to monitor EGT (exhaust gas temperature), which is also very useful when tuning or power-tuning.
It is best to use all of the data-gathering methods at your disposal to evaluate results while tuning. The ability to see air/fuel ratio, EGT, and visually reading your spark-plugs will give you best results. No one single way will tell you everything you will need to know. Some is better than nothing, but all is best.
Next, buy some type of accelerometer or use a datalogging software that also functions as a performance measuring device. You can then proceed to effectively "power-tune" (hod-rod) your vehicle via a combination of modifications and tuning adjustments.
Next, install the engine, drivetrain, and induction system of your choice and enjoy power-tuning and high-performance.

Re: What you guys think??
Yes you may pm me, and I'll help when I can.
Take your time. I started hot-rodding & tuning in the late 1980's.
People also have changes of interest as they get older.

Re: What you guys think??
nice, im going to start modding the car with a cold air intake, to see thie difference. how do you guys reccommend me setting this up? iwas thinking putting the filter closer to the bottom of the engine so the air flow will get cold air.
