Identifying Cam
Im trying to pinpoint what cam I am running based on what the previous owner said. He is still digging through for receipts but he said it was an edelbrock stage 2 cam. The engine is a a 77 chevy 350 block (in my 84 trans am). Any ideas? I didnt think edelbrock has "stage" cams. I know you have to pull the cam to get the casting numbers but I was wondering if anyone has ever heard that refrence. My best guess is a performer plus cam.

Re: Identifying Cam
Grind numbers are always on the back of the cam so you would have to pull the cam right out of the block to get the numbers.
With literally hundreds of different grinds from dozens of manufacturers, it's pretty hard to guess at what it might be. Even if it was an Edelbrock cam, trying to measure the lift and duration may not help if the grind isn't produced any more. Too many variables including LSA to pinpoint an exact cam without knowing grind numbers off the end of the cam.
A cam card from the previous owner would be the best.
