Re: electric fan 82 z28

I have a 1982 z28 and wat i did was took a Single electric fan off a 97 Cavalier. Its bigg enuff to fit perfect inside the stock clutch fan shroud. i used tie wire to simply tie it in place snugg.

How would you hook this up? Would the taurus fan come on automatically with a fan switch like on the later model camaros? What kind of relay?

You mean a block switch, or Painless wiring kit?

Re: electric fan 82 z28

I used the mid '90s Taurus fan. From a 3.8L Taurus. They move significantly more air than the aftermarket fans, and are very cheap.
You use a temperature switch that you install in your cyl head. You can use a factory one from a later Camaro (~1992 -- 215*F IIRC?), or in my case, get a Corvette C4 aftermarket one ($20 - 185*F).

Then just wire it up to power through a relay/solenoid, with a fuse, and a hot in run power wire. The temperature switch is the switched ground.
I only wired up the low speed, it keeps my aggressive 350 nice and cool. Although you can put a switch in your car to control the high/low speed if you want.
