should there be fuel in this ? (pic)

Hello

I have this canister purge valve in my engine and i was just wondering if there should be gas in it or just gas fumes . it has 4 tubes coming out of it and if i unplug the bottom one it has gas in it is that how it should be?

Your vapor canister could be saturated. Since you have a pre-1988 car there is a filter under the canister which should be changed or cleaned periodically. If the filter is clear and the vehicle is driven at cruise (highway speeds) for a length of time the raw fuel from the canister should be removed and burned - IF the vacuum lines are connected properly and IF the vacuum valves are working. There is a timed port on the carb and a TVS in the intake or water outlet to control the purge function, along with the purge valve.
