engine clearance...any suggestions???
Ive got a 92 rs with a 385 stroker and a weiand 142 blower on top of that. the issue im having is im trying to fit it all under a hood without cutting one. right now i have a 3 1/2" cowl and i had to cut that. and still have about 1" of airfilter above that hood. ive got a 3"high airfilter sitting on the carb. and have tried the edelbrock lo profile one but that sits higher that my 3". Im trying to avoid a 5"cowl so i can still see while im turning since im trying to make this into more of a street car. does anyone knowof any super low profile aircleaners, maybe some tricks for hood clearence, or if you can safely lower your engine/ engine mounts.

Install a tall enough cowl to cover it.
To lower the engine, you would probably have to install a front motor plate and remove the side engine mounts. With a lot of fabrication, you might be able to make some solid side mounts to position the engine lower.
There are very few options for hood clearance when you have something on top of the engine that isn't supposed to be there. I have a tunnel ram stuffed under my hood with a low profile cowl and aeroscoop. The only way it fits is because I don't use any air filters since the car is strip only. If I ran any sort of air filters, I would just unbolt and remove the aeroscoop and have them sticking out of the hood/cowl.

Re: engine clearance...any suggestions???
yeah i pretty much figured that the cowl was the only way to go, Iwas just hoping for something smaller. they look alot better with the lower hoods. but im not willing not sacrifice my blower to do it. At least not until i can afford to replace it with something better. i do have the chrome airscoop sitting on there now with the 3 1/2" cowl and it dont look to bad. so ill just have to see what lloks better that or the 5" cowl.....thanks

If all you lack is 1inch, why not use a 2" filter rather than a 3inch filter?

Agreed, and then you can add one of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-66-1401/ and you will still have more than enough filtered air flow

Check fit with a 2" first before you buy that filter lid. If the top is going to be against the hood anyway, the filter lid won't do you any good (since it'll be sealed off by the hood).
