I believe that would be your coolant temp sensor.

Hello Electro_X!!

You might want to fix the wires going into that connector, they seem to be exposed (bare wire) !!

Re: can you tell me what this is? ( pics )

Bythe picture, it has to be an 82 to 84 Trans Am.
(real cowl induction from the hood)

It is a temp sensor, but which one?
Those years used a temp sensor for the gauge
and a separate one for the ECM.

You can buy the connector from the dealer and splice the wires together.
In the interim you really need to tape those wires up

aha there you go i didn't realize i can just buy the connector , so i actually don't need the sensor just the connector.

thanks for brining this into my mind

Pictured is the ECM sensor. The gauge sender is in the driver side head in all years.

1-wire sensor is for gauge and would be on the head not the intake.
2-wire sensor is for ECM.

Re: can you tell me what this is? ( pics )

When you get a chance, solder and heat shrink those splices. The clip on splices you used will invite corrosion which will alter the signal from the CTS. If you aren't comfortable with solder, use heat shrink butt connectors and a good set of crimpers, such as Klein. You should use a heat gun to shrink and seal the tubing but you can get by with a BIC lighter in a pinch if your careful.
