Cylinder head bolt question
In the process of changing a head gasket and when I removed the bolts they looked to be only two sizes. In the pack of new ones I bought there are 7long ones, 8 short ones and 2 that are not as long as the long ones. Where do the two go??
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Cylinder head bolt question
The two "middle" lengths go at the far end under the valve cover. They go right next to the oil drain back holes in the ends of the head.

Re: Cylinder head bolt question
Thank you. I figured they went at each end but would rather ask first before I started torquing them down.

Re: Cylinder head bolt question
Yeah thats pretty confusing the first couple times. My dad built so many small blocks he had 3 5 gallon buckets full of the different length bolts. That was the first thing I learned about working on cars...... sorting those bolts.
