Engine bogs when in gear or I hit the gas
I am new on here and trying to figure out my problem with my 1984 Z28 305.
I bought it around a month ago and the car is in excellent condition, never has seen winter/the engine has 130,000 miles on it, everything was fine until earlier this week, I was driving at night it was around 45 degrees outside not sure if that helps with the scenario, anyways, I was messing around fake racing my friend on a main street in my town and then all of a sudden I had no power in the engine, it would bog down when I stepped on the gas and the choke light turns on and off. It idles fine around 5rpm in park and as soon as I put it into gear reverse or overdrive it either dies or it runs really rough. As soon as I push on the gas it spudders and runs rough than as soon as it shifts a gear its fine until its going into the other gear than it runs rough again. Like I said when it's in park it's like nothing is wrong. I found a cracked air check valve going to the manifold so I repaired that and it didn't work, so I just said screw it and I removed the whole A.I.R. system and components including the smog pump and the A/C and all it's components, I am still back to square one with how it is running it wasn't a vacuum leak. Aslo I replaced the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, I plugged off the holes in the manifold left from the air check valves and I plugged off the vacuum holes on the carb associated with the a.i.r. system I also replaced the o2 sensor. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a carb problem. Is the choke sticking? Open the butterly's by hand.

wadebryant thanks for the response but I have had the air filter off and watched the carb as I was reving it up I didn't see anything sticking although I really don't know what to look for when it comes to carbs as far as smoke and what not. I know the front butterfly plate on the carb is for the choke correct? That one seems to be open all the time but I know when the car heats up that causes the plate to stay open.

choke is not sticking the car runs perfect when it is park, I added a 1/4 bottle of seafoam into the brake booster, and a half bottle into the fuel tank, I changed the coil, still nothing, as soon as it is in gear it runs rough and bogs down HELP!!!!!!!!!

Fixed it wade, I bought a carb rebuilt kit because when I had the car running in park it was fine but as soon as I pressed the accelerator pump on the top of the carb it died and there was no fuel spraying into the barrel, so I replaced the neoprene coupler and the spring and she runs like a champ.
