What springs for small cam upgrade
I'm going to be putting a used crane powermax grind (2032 I think it's called - 214/220 452/465 112) in my roller lo5, not a big cam but should be an improvement over the peanut cam. The engine has less than 80k on it, I'm not even going to take the heads off. (Budget upgrade) Do I definitely need new springs when I swap the cam? What valve springs should I buy? Anything else I need to change when doing this?

The 98111 springs from www.competitionproducts.com would be fine for your combo. They're about $28 / set.

They say they are for flat tappet, does that make a difference?

Re: What springs for small cam upgrade
they have more seat pressure than stock LT1 springs, and ALL LT1s were HR, and good to 6200 rpm. Is that enough reassurance for you?

I don't know...I don't know much about valvetrain at all, I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants here. Never pulled a cam out or disassembled a valvetrain. Right now I'm accumulating parts so I have what I need when I start taking it apart.

Valvesprings lose tension over time. You can't see any wear, but they are considered wear items. And at less than $2 each, it's cheap insurance.
