mild 305 build questions
so i got this plan to build the 305 in the bird im buyin. it has the L03 in it with a 700r4 behind it. i want to put a set of headers on it, a set of vortech heads, some roller rockers, an lt1 cam, and a weiand stealth intake. what kind of #s should i expect to see at the wheel with a good tune with this? ill be swapping in a t-5 sometime after this, so i dont want to put any cash into the tranny.

Re: mild 305 build questions
I doubt anyone has chassis-dynoed a combo like that. Be sure to have the Vortecs milled as far as your local machine shop says is safe, because if you don't mill them, you'll be under 8.2:1 compression. Also use Fel-Pro steel shim head gaskets.

Re: mild 305 build questions
With the milling as Atilla suggest to get at-least 9.0 compression DD2000 predicts 330fwhp with all things being perfect. You also need to consider if you are keeping the TBI (you didn't say) that it will need custom tuning, and upgrades to fueling (injectors, fp regulator, etc).
In reality though you will probably be getting 250rwhp once all the accessories and drive train are added to the equation.

Re: mild 305 build questions
Do a mild rebuild with SpeedPro flat top pistons. Then you won't need to mill the crap out of the Vortecs to get decent compression.

Re: mild 305 build questions
059 casting 305 vortec heads would not require milling.
