Testament to toughness of the GM 350
Recently I bought a 90 Iroc and was driving it back to canada from oklahoma.
40 miles from the border it was making a horrid sound indicitive of a rod bearing or something. It was 11pm so we just booted it to the border.
Between me and the guy I was with it was dead silence and the only radio station was classical music with the horrid engine noise as backup. I was still 10 hours from home from the city we got where I had to tow it back too after I caught a flight home.
I just got it apart this weekend and found the oil pickup had fallen off and was the noise as it was probably floating in oil and gettin wacked by the crank. It drove for 40 miles like this which is amazing.
Also a note not to use too much RTV, the oil passages were tottaly full of the junk as per the first picture. That in itself may have caused the pickup to pop off.
Now begins my third and hopefully final LS swap
