Which shortblock!?

Ok, i have decided to replace my stock 400 block with an aftermarket block. I want to get either the dart little m or the iron eagle. Anyone have any experience with these blocks?
Part of my decision is going to be based on whether the little m needs machinging to become a 400.
On their website, they have several different blocks with all kinds of measurements.
http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/category.asp?CtgID=11046
What do those measurements mean and which one would be a 400?
Sorry if i am way off in my questioning, these numbers mean nothing to me.
My goal is to build an incredible reliable street motor. I want to use the best parts and push around 450-500hp through it.
I already have afr 195cc heads with the steam hoes drilled so i figure i shoud build another 400.
Thanks for any help!

Re: Which shortblock!?

Dart has the SHP block thats for a 400 as well thats cheaper than those blocks. Get it from CNC Blocks Northeast. I'm getting one thru them. Those blocks need abit of finish machining to ensure dimensions are correct. Although advertised as finish machined, Dart has had a few problems with the blocks not quite spec'ing out right. Places that sell the blocks as machined from Dart should be avoided (summit/jegs/etc), so get it thru a reputable machine shop place that will blueprint them and finish machine them

Little M and Iron Eagle are overkill for your goals. SHP is a nice block once its cleaned up, just like any other block

Overki is exactly what i am looking for. If the block is made for 700hp and i am putting 450-500 through it, it shoud last forever. Right?
Looks like the little m will be more than enough. Just need to figure out which block they sell is a 400... thanks for the advice.

Lil M will survive 450hp forever but its the rotating assembly that you should spend money on to ensure your bottom end is strong

Yeah, I am looking at the forged eagle rotating assemblies. I figure with that i will have a bulletproof bottom end. I just need some help deciding on whether i shoud do a 383 or 400.

Could anyone help me by telling me how a 400s measurments are different from a 383. For example, on several websites short bock pages they have options for a 350 or 400 main, 9.025 deck height 4.000" bore. What measurments would be for a 400?
Thanks

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a 383 has a 4" bore with a 3.75 stroke crank (400 crank), and a true 400 has a 4.125" bore with a 3.75 stroke crank. I'm guessing you'd want the one that says 400 mains. Get someone elses opinion though, my knowledge isn't the best with block measurements.

Re: Which shortblock!?

Also forgot to add in.....just my 2 cents, but in my experiences, 383's make more power and similiar torque to a 400. 400's basically only make a little more HP than a 350 with the same heads cam combo. Obviously the torque will be much more, but I guess it's whatever you want the motor to do.....torque monster or high RPM power.
