What are the cheapest heads that can be ported to flow? i already have the l05 heads but if there is another head that could be better ported for under 300 bucks than let me know.

The best "bang for the buck" heads out there are Vortecs.
You can find 'em in most junkyards for nothing, because they are truck heads, but they are the best flowing production-line head GM ever used on a SBC. Porting takes them even farther, especially on the exhaust side.
Only downside, is that they require the use of a 'Vortec' style intake manifold, because the bolt pattern and port locations are somewhat different from a normal SBC head. The exhaust side is the same however, as is the mounting to the engine block and all the valvetrain (though its the newer self-aligning style, unless you change that).
