ZZ4 to XFI268

How much power would be gained by switching from my ZZ4 cam to the xfi268. I have to fix a leaking timing cover, so I thought I might try a cam change. I was going to use magnets to hold the lifters up.

why in the world would you mess with magnets on something like this? Take it apart and find out what else is going on in there. You may be glad that you did. Also, Im not sure how well you magnet plan would work, to be honest.

Re: ZZ4 to XFI268

i dont think youd gain much if at all. and magnets wouldnt be the best how would you get magnet in there without removing the intake manifold anyways? unless you use the one on rods which arent powerful at all. just take it all apart and do it right if you choose to but its not worth the hassle and money IMO.

Re: ZZ4 to XFI268

AFM makes a set of magnets that are inserted in place of pushrods. But if the cam change won't add much power, I leave it as is. Thanks.

Re: ZZ4 to XFI268

ok nevermind i just rechecked the 268 cam specs and theyre a lot higher than what i thought they were. sorry my fault bad memory i through they were maybe .5 highest. as long as your heads can accept that much lift then id say you should be able to gain some power as long as the rest of your combo is up to par for that much flow.

Re: ZZ4 to XFI268

yeah you'll gain power as long as your heads will handle the lift and have good springs since the XFI stuff has aggressive lobes and require good spring pressure to keep it from floating
