the motor i put in my 82 t/a has these heads and ive looked them up and what ive found are they have double hump castings 2.02 1.60 valves and 64cc chambers am i correct? since i may be rebuilding this motor if i cant get it to turnover i plan on doing little things to bump up the power dont want a power house but enough low end grunt for helping my 82 power out of the turns on a autox course and some stoplight to stoplight scenarios. im asuming these are a good head and i lucked out on the motor other than its seized from sitting how easy could i get a street friendly dd able 350-400 crank hp without stroking and using a stall? car has th350 unsure of gears guy said 3.73 but who knows. thanks

They were good heads, back in their day... might or might not have 2.02" intakes in them, most didn't come that way but who knows, it's very easy to jam a set of them in.

Shouldn't be too much trouble to get that much power out of it; a decent cam instead of that old Stone Age el cheeepo POS, better intake, good exhaust (CRITICAL).

For a cam I'd suggest a Comp XE274 or the Voodoo that's 227° @ .050"; for the intake, a Performer RPM.

Getting the compression up to the right level is also CRITICAL. Since the bottom end is seized, it'll be coming apart and getting rebuilt anyway. Use flat-tops with an actual 1.56" compression height, and get the block zero-decked to them. Most replacement pistons, TRWs (SPeedPro) for example, have a 1.54" CH, i.e. are .020" farther "down in the hole" at TDC. Stock, there's already .025" of deck clearance. To put it in perspective: with the bore .030" over, 6cc valve reliefs in flat-top pistons, .045" deck clearance, .039" head gasket (FelPro 1004 or similar), and 64cc heads, your CR will be about 9.3:1. With all else the same except the deck clearance at .000" (pistons level with the top of the block at TDC), the CR will be 10.3:1. That's HUGELY different. Furthermore, with the gigantic deck clearance, you'll have NO "quench", which will make the motor prone to detonation. Don't make the mistake of overlooking the deck clearance. Getting it right is one of the reasons why some people can assemble a particular parts list, and get a motor that runs A WHOLE LOT BETTER than somebody else assembling the identical same parts list. There's more to getting a motor to run hard than picking the parts.

on a side note did you check the casting # on both heads? reason I ask is yesterday I saw your post in another thread about you engine being seized.. I did notice you have a double hump on the drivers side.. couldn't clearly see the front of the passanger side head..

They won't have hardened seats & valves for unleaded fuel unless they've been rebuilt and specifically had that addressed.

These heads were from the 1969-1970 350-300hp motors.
They are a very good head for you to use. They did come with 2.02's (1969 Z/28, but most have 1.94x 1.50' valves.
These heads really respond to a street porting job. Really kicks up the airflow and power.
I have two cams for ya. Both like a 3.73 gear and will work with a stock 12" converter. A mild 11" 2800 stall would be a lot better if you like a hard drag launch and still be very cruiser friendly but a stock (12" GM) converter will do if you insist. If a drag strip launch is not a priority stay with the stock converter.

They both make real good street and road course power and torque right in the RPM range you'll be using the most and are easy to live with on a daily basis.
The combustion chamber volume is supposed to be 64cc but ranges a bit to about 68cc. cc yours to know for sure and machine as nessessary.

They like a dual plane hi rise 650-750cfm carb and headers and around 10:1 and some head porting.
