Spark, control module???
Can anyone tell me the exact function of the spark control module on the firewall by the relays. My car is a 305 TPI.
I know the name implies it controls the spark but what I want to know is exactly how it goes about controling the spark. I am having an idle problem & I am wondering if this could be the source.

Re: Spark, control module???
The ESC module send a voltage signal [8-12volts] term. C to the ECM when no spark knock is detected by the knock sensor, and the ECM provides normal spark advance. when the knock sensor detects spark knock, the moduel turns off CKT 485 term.C blk. wire, to the ECM. The ECM then retards EST to reduce spark knock. Term. B pnk/blk.wire = ignition feed. Term. C blk.wire= spark retard signal. Term. D brn.wire= ground. Term. E wht. wire to knock sensor.
