Hey all,
If I lean out my car, say right now the car runs at 14.5 A:F ratio and I lean it out to 14.75, would this make it much easier to pass the calif somg emissoins?

Depends. How are you going to lean it out?

Other than a 383, what have you got under the hood?

well, for the motor,
Its a 383, with super ram, and GEN VII, I am going to use the DFI tables to lean it out just a tab, have my egr working, therefore hopefully the emissions will be lower, because the sticker on the car calls for the 305, which means they (smog shop) must test for 305. I was just thinking, (in theory) if I lean it out just a little bit, going from 14.5 to 14.75 A:F ratio that would help the numbers and the motor would still run great.

If you make it too lean, then you raise the other numbers and fail there. 14.75 is barely a change at all. It would need to be about 15.0:1 to make a dent. Is this a carb, tbi, or tpi? If its tpi I can help you with a custom chip.

I have a Accel Gen VII DFI Setup. also for the custom chip how do you setup the A:F, that would help...

I saw your post after I wrote mine.
How are you going to get passed the visual? The DFI doesnt work the check engine light. Or do you have the piggy back system?
I have limited experience with the DFI system but it is similar to the 7730 speed density system. You can raise the injector constant to lean it out, or lower the values in the volumetic efficiency tables. Do you have a setting for base air-fuel ratio? I dont remember. It helps if you have a wideband O2 sensor too. Have you done a pre-test yet to see where your numbers are?

I have passed the visual, and I do have a WB O2 Sensor, have not done a pre-test, but I am going to,just trying to find a good starting point. I can edit the Base VE table, and the injector constants, and I can adjust the Base A:F also, currently my A:F is set at 14.5:1
