And I would definatly recomend to those on a tight Budget. I didnt ever port or polish or even put new valves in them. Big increase in power. Havent ran it to see just how much but it woke up thats for sure.

Those of you that have done the same thing Carb or Fuel injected would have to agree.

Glad to hear it worked well for you. What heads were on the motor before you installed the LT-1s?

Do you know what sized chambers the old heads had? I'm guessing they were probably old 76cc chmaber emissions-era heads. A swap to the LT-1s (with much smaller chambers) would certainly also raise compression and give you a nice bump in torque. Add that to overall better flow of the LT-1s and I think the resuts you've seen sound about like what you would expect. Enjoy the new combo.

"1.94" only indicates the diameter of the intake valves. It doesn't tell anything about the size of the combustion chambers or the efficiency of the ports.

Casting numbers would be good.

I can't imagine LT1 heads being a "budget" choice. The required modifications would make them cost more than brand new Vortecs (which have all of the benefits that LT1 heads would provide to a Gen I SBC).

It cost $5o bucks to get the coolent holes welded up and $50 to get them recerfaced. You have to get the LT1 Carbed Intake, and the Remote Thremostat Housing. Really not that bad Money wise.

As far as the Heads that were on it I coudlnt tell you, They werent 882's I just know the intake ports were 1.94 from an 80s chevy truck. The Block was a 80-86 4 bolt main from a truck thats all the numbers told me.

The LT1 heads were off a 95 and they were given too me, dont know what numbers were on those just know that LT1 heads are 55 ccs chamber heads compared tot he 75 CC chamber heads I had on it.
