305 LG4 won't start!

I tore down the Lg4 to the block and made the necessary repairs of new gaskets, Edelbrock manifold, New Oil Pan and cleaning or restoring original parts. The putting back together part went well for a first timer, but the car cranks over but will not start. I got new wires and plugs, New Rotor and Distributor Cap with coil, new battery, carb shoots fuel so not a fuel delivery problem. I will say though I still have many connections that do not have homes or mates.

can anyone Help?

any comments will be appreciated.

Id say search for a wiring diagram on here and start with the first problem you mentioned. If its got fuel most likely its your ignition and maybe a ground somewhere. There are plenty of wiring diagrams along with vaccum diagrams on here so its proven helpful to me many times, so someone else probobly had the same problem on here and you can see what they did.

you post in the wrong thread. it needs to be moved to the Tech / General Engine thread for more help. but i would check with the distributor and your spark plug wire. but if this post is relocated youll get plenty of help. just my

do you have your ground strap? (wire from back of passenger side head, to body of car, to ground it). I heard that is commonly left off, and causes weird problems.

It's most likely the distributor is in wrong. Pull it, hand turn the motor over to #1 compression, say 10* before, and drop in your distributor. Mark the distributor body where the rotor points, put on your cap, and put #1 at that mark, go around clockwise in order.

I had to re-do that a few times to get my motor to fire up the first time, it's tricky I guess

I did not turn the engine when the distributor was out, so I should still be good in that sense right?

I think I'd start there.
