humming and thumping

tried the search didnt find much .. ive got a humming coming from the top side of the motor on the passenger side its only in idle .. i cant hear it at all when above 1000 rpms ... so i dont know ... it dose it in all gears in idle and in park ... its kinda loud and annoying ... can be heard inside and outside of the car ...

secondly theres a thumping noise coming from my rear passenger tire the tire dosent have any bubbles or nails .. and its balanced and theres no flat spots ... it sounds mechanical .. anythoughts would be great thanks

Sounds like you alternator is making noise. The thumping may be the sway or panhard bar.

Add rear shock mounts/bushings to the inspection list.

Perhaps IAC motor up front? And could your exhaust be hitting your panhard rod? Had a friend buy an 86 Iroc, swore the rear end was going out, actually his exhaust hanger had broke and the exhaust was riding the panhard rod.

reminds me of a funny story, a coworker bough an s10 like a month ago, it made a thump noise when driving 40mph and above and vibrated like crazy. Ended up pulling 2 gallons of water out of the back tire....

but back to your story,

sounds like off balance tire hitting something, bump stop still there?

LCA broken? Bushing still good, my old 4th gen, when i bought it was completely missing the bushing on the back, made a nice thump sound when it wanted to.

A Haynes manual or a search should net you everything you need. As for the exhaust rubbing on something just look where the exhaust crosses over, those bars that runs side to side and looks like a pair of sicors (kind of) is your pan hard rod, this is probably where the exhaust is hitting.

Interesting because with my I managed to find a picture of multiple rear suspensions with write ups on what the parts were so maybe you're just a little P.S. A great way to get people to dislike you is to mock them when they try to help you.
